A delegation of 17 members of the Philippines’ Department of Agriculture headed to China for a Fisheries Technology and Training Exchange at Shenzhen Experimental Base of South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute. The Philippine and Chinese delegates talked about bringing tangible benefits to both the Filipino and Chinese people by having good cooperation between both nations. China expressed their support to their Filipino counterparts in fishery development, capacity building, employment stimulation and livelihood improvement for fishermen. It pledged to willingly share best practices and advanced technologies to advance fisheries cooperation between China and the Philippines. Soon, China will hold different technical training programs which best fit the Philippine fisheries and fishermen. They also hope to better prepare the fisherfolk regarding technological applications in fisheries.
Director Wilfredo M. Cruz of BFAR Regional Office 3 thanked the Chinese delegates for the support and confidence to the Philippine delegates and that advanced fishery technologies and exchanges of useful experiences through meetings will be a great help to the Philippine fishery industry.
