BFAR 3 Dispersed 300,000 Tilapia Fingerlings in Pampanga River

APALIT, Pampanga
- As part of the week-long celebration of Fish Conservation Week, BFAR3 Director Wilfredo Cruz together with Provincial Fisheries Officers Nico Wamil and Ralph Atabay, led the dispersal of more than 300,000 tilapia fingerlings along the Pampanga River in Barangay Sulipan. The Local Government Unit of Apalit, represented by Municipal Agriculturist Jessie Cabrera, actively participated in and fully supported the activity.

The dispersal was made possible through the Balik Sigla sa Ilog at Lawa (BASIL) program with the aim to repopulate freshwater bodies with non-invasive and indigenous species to increase productivity and ultimately increase the income of fisherfolk in the province.
