Bataan Community Fish Landing Center Inaugurated
A Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC) which is designed to distribute and market capture fishery and aquaculture products was inaugurated in Barangay Puerto Rivas in this rich resource town of Balanga, Bataan last Feb. 15, 2019. The center's landing site was provided by the local government of Bataan. The inaugural ceremony was attended by the 2nd District Congressman Joet Garcia and Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia. Also gracing the occasion were Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region III Director Lilian C. Garcia and Provincial Fishery Officer Romina Yutuc.
BFAR III through its regional director distributed fishing gears and paraphernalia as part of the agency's program to improve the livelihood of local fisherfolk in Bataan. The Community Fish Landing Center (CFLC) will be initially operated and managed by the joint Local Government Unit (LGU) and fisherfolk's organization. Then it will be eventually turned-over to the local fisherfolk organization and cooperative to manage its operation.
The establishment of a fish landing center is expected to impact food security and poverty alleviation in the region in accordance with the goals and mandate of the government through BFAR Region 3.
