Villar School opens Training Program on Freshwater Aquaculture Technologies
Atty. Rhaegee Tamana, chief-of-staff to the Honorable Senator Cynthia Villar, welcomed the participants to the Trainers’ Training on Freshwater Aquaculture Technologies on July 22, 2019 in Munoz, Nueva Ecija.
The training was held in partnership with BFAR Regional Office 3 and the National Freshwater Fisheries Training Center. The 4-day seminar aims to improve the country’s aquaculture sector and boost the production and income of fresh water fish farmers and operators. There are 30 participants from CAR, Regions 1, 2 and 3 who will all be given lectures and hands-on activities on the propagation and culture of Catfish, Giant Gourami, Tilapia and Carp. They are also encouraged to disseminate the knowledge to others by conducting trainings on aquaculture techniques.
Atty. Tamana, in her welcome speech, emphasized the advocacy of the veteran senator to promote the importance of aquaculture in the government’s campaign to fight poverty and ensure food security, “It will help feed us all.”
