BFAR 3 Distributed Fiberglass Boats to Lubao Fisherfolks

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 3 in cooperation with the local government of Lubao, Pampanga distributed 55 fiberglass boats to the fisherfolk of the town. The 22 footer boats with complete accessories and 6.5 horse power marine engine, plus 100 life vests were awarded to the fisherfolk led by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab with BFAR National Director Commodore Eduardo Gongona and BFAR 3 Regional Director Wilfredo M. Cruz. The boats were given to the fisherfolks of the town as part of the fisheries livelihood support program of BFAR Region 3 that aims to ensure sustainable fish production. Director Gongona also said that the boats might help to improve the fisherfolk’s lives and he also recognized their efforts because the pursuit of sustainable fish production depends on them.
