The answer to these questions were given in a training seminar dubbed as “Trainer's Training on Freshwater Aquaculture Livelihood Technology" which was conducted in Mayantoc, last Jan 22, 2019. The trainers training was conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region III – NFFTC in partnership with Senator Cynthia A. Villar SIPAG Foundation.
Thirty-two trainers from Region 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) attended the seminar whose aim is to increase fishponds productivity in the freshwater sector of the fishing industry.
The keynote speaker is Senator Cynthia A. Villar who underscored the importance of increasing freshwater aquaculture contribution in our national food security program in the light of declining productivity in the marine fishery due to over-fishing and pollution.
She urged the participants to join the effort to increase fish-food security by the introduction of modern fish-farming techniques.
